STEAM Lesson Plan

STEAM LESSON:

On March 2nd, 2020 in my practicum classroom I did a STEAM lesson plan on the sun and how it effects the Earth.

I think overall the lesson went well. If I could go back, I would have more activities on the first day. The second day seemed rushed. Another thing I wish would have been different is the students I brought to the small group. I should have had pre-planned students in groups instead of calling them by name. In the small group there were students getting distracted by their friends beside them and wanting to play with the pattern blocks instead of building the sun I had planned. Also, when the students were building the sun, a few of them strayed away from building it and making something else, and I should have got them back on track and redirected their focus. I thought I did a good job with questioning and only asking good, quality questions. During the rug reading students had great answers to the more challenging questions I asked. I also had to do a classroom management strategy a few times to reel them back in, and my students listened and redirected their attention.
