I want to be a teacher for many reasons. My mom is a teacher, so ever since I was little I would help her around her room and get to know the students in her class. I have always loved helping people and being there for people when they need someone to talk to. To me, children are influenced very easily, and I would love to be a positive influence to children who need someone in their life to look up to. This past summer I worked at a summer day camp, and I worked with children that were kindergarten all the way to sixth grade. I spent all summer with them, and loved every minute of it! Being there solidified for me that I want to work with children. After doing the day camp, I decided to start subbing on my off days at the elementary school I went to, and that was also so much fun! I loved having a classroom I could help children grow, and learn in. When I made the decision to become a teacher, everyone told me it was a perfect fit. I started doing more at the elementary school, learning more and investing more time there and by doing that, I quickly picked up on what its like to be a teacher. I believe that people view teachers just as crafty people who work with children, but to me, I see teaching as an opportunity to influence, educate, love, and learn. I am so excited to become a teacher one day. I know it will be a lot of work, but changes just one students life is definitely worth all the taste nights studying and becoming the nest educator I can possibly be. Overall, teaching has became a passion of mine that I want to continue beyond day camp and subbing. I cannot wait to one day be Ms. Cochran!
